Ako Mismo Dog Tag Day

Posted by Mr. JuanStep

Yesterday was the INDEPENDENCE DAY of the Philippines. However in our place, I didn't feel the celebration for FREEDOM. It seemed that the holiday was just extending the weekend. I didn't hear a mouth saying "Happy independence day!" Alright, I'll stop the drama. I just hope that each Filipino APPRECIATE the freedom that has been given to us since 1898.

On the other hand, there was a place in Metro Manila where the FILIPINO SPIRIT was roaring out loud! Yes you're right, In Bonifacio Open Field, the AKO MISMO DOG TAG DAY was held, and I can't miss the event. Ako Mismo promotes change in oneself; by making their walls of commitments, anyone can make and share their PLEDGE with other people. It really was a great event. PATRIOTISM and NATIONALISM filled the whole place. Many charities were present such as Caritas and World Vision. There were approximately 40,000 people present.

To enter the place, one should buy an Ako Mismo Dog Tag. It served as the ticket to enter the event. Even though the SUN was way above the sky, people were PATIENT to stand and to wait in lines to buy their dog tags.

If I am not mistaken, there were 6 WALLS OF COMMITMENTS. Some wrote pledges that were SENSIBLE, yet some were non-sense. I didn't let the chance pass. I myself wrote a pledge. I am very sorry for the BAD penmanship. Please bear with me.

To encourage the YOUTH to join the event, they invited live bands to perform such as Kamikazee, Bamboo and Pupil. I hope that those who attended didn't go there just to watch the concert. I hope that they support the NOBLE CAUSE of Ako Mismo and that they will do their PLEDGES.

I am glad to be present on that GREAT day. Events like this will really BOOST the Filipino blood in each of us.

More power to AKO MISMO!

how much does the tag costs? and where could i buy it? i really want one :|

A dog tag costs only P40.00. I think they're already available in a particular store, yet I forgot what that store is. Don't worry. They will be available nationwide by July. :)

Hi. This blog is now one of the nominees for the Filipino Blog of the Week award (week 165). You may visit my blog and vote. Poll can be found on the sidebar. Good luck :-)

hey. i saw your pledge on the wall. went there and wrote a pledge too.:)

it's funny to think that most people who went there were only up to the dog tags and not really to rally for a change in our country. littering, swearing, etc. they were so widespread during the event. 40,000 people present? if not for the dog tags, maybe we're just really too eager to make a change, but then we are still too lazy and selfish to do so.

the best place to start change is within each one of us. the essence of the advocacy. AKO MISMO actually reminds us that we can; there's hope for change and progress in our country.

if we could only be responsible for our every action and work as one with a common initiative, then our fight in making our nation a better place must be surely easier. if we could just find ourselves determined enough to get away from our condition that sucks, the ladder towards a better and easier country would come within our reach.

it would be so good to think that if every filipino is only a little more disciplined and honest to himself, seeing our country progressing would no longer be that difficult to achieve; and then we would realize that we are JUAN step closer to what's supposed to be just a dream.

okay. i'll post this on my own blog. hahaha!

wow! this is so unfair. I'm one of the members of akomismo.org in their site, but I was unable to attend this event because I'm not allowed to go out of our house. So, as much as I wanted to go, I wasn't able to...

The dog tags are cool by the way...but I'm guessing most people went there just because of them. tsk. :/

Yeah, Mike. Many people who went there only bought a dog tag and then straightly went to High Street and Market! Market! Before the event, I already knew that that's what gonna happen. Most of them just wanted to be in the latest trend. But then, I was glad enough to see many people falling in line for the charities. That tells us that there are also many people who care for our country.

It's not all about the dog tags, it's not all about the walls of commitments, yet it's all about what they represent - CHANGE in oneself.

AKO MISMO, i think, is the best way to encourage every youth to seek for change. They can make good advertisements, they can make good stuff, and they can make good events such as this. For some, it's only a joke. However in the end, hopefully they will realize the true essence of it.

I will support AKO MISMO all the way!

Aww. I was also thinking twice if my parents would let me go to Ako Mismo because of a(h1n1) virus. Fotunately, they allowed me to go. Don't worry. Most probably there will be more events of Ako Mismo.

They're cool. However, many people who bought it didn't really know its essence. :|

Oh sweet! I haven't been in the Philippines for a while, though' I'm actually gonna be there this summer, and I really hope and pray that change is going to begin to take place. We need it. Desperately.

M.

I agree, Marienne. Hopefully, the campaigns that promote CHANGE will have an effect to the Filipino people. Let's never stop hoping and praying for change to take place eventually.

Thanks for the comment.

i.m proud of your makabayan at your young age...sana lahat ng kabataang pinoy tulad mo, ipagpatuloy mo yan!

That's very pleasing to the ears, Lorille. Thank you. I hope that I can motivate more of the youth to be concerned about the Philippines.
